“I want to hear what are the key issues that needs to be prioritized in order to grow tourism. I want to engage and be part of this discussions to ensure that we align with the industry. Tourism is our number one Economic drive and Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba is number one tourism ambassador,” said MEC Tshidereke Mathibe from LEDET, the number two tourism ambassador.
The MEC was addressing the delegates at the 8th Limpopo Holiday Fair 2024. The fair commenced with a line up of interesting panellists who play a vital role in the tourism sector and its value chain management. The fair continues to be a platform to promote local tourism, provide strategic inputs to the municipality’s integrated development plans, facilitate information sharing and exchange knowledge within the tourism industry. It promote business linkages and advocate development of new entrants in the tourism industry.
The annual consumer trade show for Limpopo’s tourism industry was launched in 2016. This year the event is held under the theme: Change Tourism Narrative. The day was jam packed with panel discussions and engagements. Topics unpacked included Funding, Compliance, Enterprise Development, Tourism Value Chain Impact and Product Marketing. The Holiday Fair kick-started on 31 October 2024 at Peter Mokaba Stadium, in Polokwane.
