On 30 July 2026, the Capricorn District Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr Mamedupi Teffo, accompanied by Members of the Mayoral Committee, led a municipal delegation on a strategic visit to Alterra Platinum Polokwane Smelters to strengthen collaboration and gain insight into the company’s world-class operations.
The delegation toured the smelting plant, where they learned about the platinum production process, advanced emission control technologies and the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability and safety. The visit also explored opportunities for collaboration in local economic development, water and sanitation, SMME support, youth and women empowerment, environmental management and disaster risk management.
The Executive Mayor commended Alterra Platinum for its responsible mining practices and community development initiatives, reaffirming the municipality’s commitment to building partnerships that drive sustainable investment, job creation and a greener, more prosperous Capricorn District.
