DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SERVICES (DPEMS)

The department has the strategic objectives to protect the environment, create a conducive environment and ensure support to key economic sectors (agriculture tourism, manufacturing and mining), manage and co-ordinate the 5 year IDP/Budget planning process, manage and co-ordinate spatial planning, provide an enabling environment for the District to increase the implementation of EPWP (infrastructure, environment, social and non-state sectors), coordinate and promote reliable, safe road network, efficient, accessible and affordable transport services within the district.

Integrated Development Planning (IDP) priority areas are environmental management, economic development, strategy and planning, spatial planning and integrated transport planning.
