The Executive Mayor of Capricorn District Municipality, Cllr Mamedupi Teffo, appointed Cllr Makgato Machaba as the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) responsible for Development Planning and Economic Management Services (DPEMS). The appointment was announced during the virtual Ordinary Council meeting held on 29 July 2026.Cllr Machaba, who previously served as the Chairperson of the Sports, Arts and Culture Portfolio Committee under the Community Services Department, assumes leadership of the DPEMS portfolio following the appointment of Cllr Matome Masoga as the Chief Whip of Council earlier this year, a development that left the MMC position vacant.
His appointment further strengthens the municipality’s leadership team as Capricorn District Municipality continues to advance sustainable development, stimulate economic growth, and enhance service delivery for all communities across the district.
