CDM wraps-up the school visits

“Punctuality prepares you for future opportunities. Have self-respect in order for you to respect your teachers” Cllr Calvin Masoga, MMC for Planning and Environmental Services said as part of his opening remarks as we wrap-up the back-to-school campaign at Kgalema Secondary School in Mafefe, under Lepelle-Nkumpi.
Cllr Masoga was joined by the Speaker of Lepelle-Nkumpi, the MMC for Community Services in Lepelle-Nkumpi and Chief Whip of Lepelle-Nkumpi as part of the delegation. The district circuit manager, Mrs Nkuzana was also part of the delegation.
Kgalema Secondary School is one of best performing schools under Nokotlou circuit. It has got an enrolment of about 537 learners accommodated in 15 classrooms.
Kgalema Sec School is one of the schools on the rise. In 2020 the performance was at 77%. “We are now waiting for 2021 results, and we expect 80% of performance and above based on the handwork we are doing. We have afternoon studies and learner support programs” principal said.
While at Kgwadiamoleke Senior Secondary School in Tooseng Village, the Chief Whip of Capricorn District Municipality, Cllr Chuene Malebana said “As government, we continue to support and invest in education as a tool to mould character of future leaders whom in their own rights will come up with solutions to deal with challenges facing this country”, said Chief Whip.
“Perfect your character at these stages, young as you are, and preoccupy yourself with education. Trust and be faithful to yourself, give effort to your work, respect yourself first and respect others. Make the right choice”, emphasised Chief Whip.
He led the back-to-school campaign visit at Kgwadiamoleke in Lepelle-Nkumpi and was accompanied by the Local Ward Councillor, Cllr. Dimakatso Mazwi.
The principal, Madidimalo Machamose thanked CDM for the visit. “We hope and believe your message has fallen on good ears” she said.
The school was established in 1966 and has a learner enrolment 123 with 20 matriculants. The Chief Whip also met with teachers to motivate and thank them for the sterling work they do of teaching and nurturing future leaders. The learners committed to working hard and making their teachers proud.
In Blouberg Municipality, MMC Makhura addressed learners on the importance of reading books and to refrain from substance abuse, engaging in sexual activities. She emphasized the issue of respect and that the future is in their hands. MMC Makhura visited the Helen Franz special school to motivate learners living with disability.
Another special school that was visited was Setotolwane Special School outside Mankweng in Polokwane. Cllr Caroline Mamabolo encouraged leaners to focus on their schoolwork and work hard. “Nothing comes easy in life”. She said.
The school has a total enrolment of over two hundred learners. In 2020 it had a matric pass rate of 76.9%.
