CDM, SANTAM PLANT TREES

CDM and Santam have planted indigenous trees at the Molemole Fire Station, Machaka Traditional Authority and the Festus Mothudi Thusong Service Centre at Botlokwa, Molemole Municipality on 03 October 2023.
The trees were planted during an IDDR build up awareness event. Representing CDM Executive Mayor, MMC for Infrastructure Cllr. Maite Mohale also unveiled a plaque at the fire station, that will memorialize the planting of these indigenous trees by both Santam and CDM through their long standing partnership. Other trees will be planted at schools after the current school holidays.
” As Capricorn District Municipality and Santam, our position is clear; we are committed to building disaster resilient communities and safeguarding livelihoods.
This year’s disaster reduction campaign coincides with a tree planting initiative, to fight disasters through other means. October is Arbor month and we must instill the culture of using trees to mitigate and combat the devastating impacts of floods, wildfires, erosion, and more, said Cllr. Mohale.
The theme for the event was ” Develop a Girl Child – Girls’ Role in Disaster Risk Reduction”.
