She also thanked MEC for supporting these awards which are in line with DSAC programs that pursue the transformation agenda of using arts and entertainment as a catalyst for nation-building, social cohesion and poverty alleviation.

“As a District Municipality, we acknowledge that many of our legends are the products of many years of mentorship and advocacy – whose talents were identified from an early age. No one’s potential in our Province should therefore be missed or left out especially considering the fact that every child is born with a particular talent – be it acting or singing etc – which, if identified and put to good use, can uplift their families out of poverty.
