On 22 July 2025, Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo led the handover ceremony for the Madoana and Machoana water project in Blouberg Local Municipality. The day commenced with a briefing session at Blouberg Local Municipality Offices in Senwabarwana with Mayor Cllr Maria Thamaga leading the Blouberg team.
The Madoana Water Supply Project, implemented by Ninabase (Pty) Ltd and overseen by Zakumi Consulting Engineers, was completed at a cost of R9.7 million, benefiting 781 households. Scope of Work Included: 2 boreholes equipped with diesel engines, 1000m of bulk pipelines, 4500m of reticulation lines, installation of 85 communal standpipes and a 100KL elevated steel tank, fenced for protection. The project also created 22 local jobs, supporting economic inclusion.
On the other side, the Matshoana Water Supply Project, delivered by MM STAR (Pty) Ltd, now provides clean water to 270 households. Scope of Work Included: 2 equipped boreholes, 1000m bulk pipeline, 4500m reticulation network, installation of 77 communal standpipes, 100KL steel tank, fully fenced and operational. The project employed 22 local workers, including a Community Liaison Officer, a SHE Officer, and security personnel.
The handover event marked not just the completion of infrastructure, but a deeper commitment — to dignity, service, equality and justice. “Access to water is not a luxury — it’s a right. And today, we honour Madiba by making that right a reality,” said Mayor Teffo.
“The Madoana and Matshoana Water Supply Projects are powerful examples of leadership, partnership, and people-first planning. They bring more than water — they bring hope, health, and a better future,” concluded Teffo.
