An act of Kindness. In the true spirit of Tata Nelson Mandela, the Executive Mayor of Capricorn District Municipality Cllr Mamedupi Teffo lit up the hearts of children at Ponelo Pele Reading Centre.
In honour of Mandela Month, on the 25th of July 2025 the Executive Mayor dedicated her 67 minutes to spreading hope and inspiration at Ponelopele Reading Centre in Mphakane Village under Molemole Local Municipality.
The Executive Mayor handed over educational resources, stationery, books, and learning tools, gifts that will continue to give long after the day ends. For the young minds, every book is a doorway, and every pencil a spark of potential. The Reading Centre is more than a building; it’s a beacon of hope, a doorstep to limitless possibility. By investing in reading and learning spaces, Capricorn District is investing in future leaders, dreamers, and doers. “Today, we are planting a seed of hope to this reading center, understanding the importance of education in changing lives for the better. We do this in the spirit of Tata Nelson Mandela,” said Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo.
“We carried the message of Nelson Mandela in our hearts for years, and today we share it with you, knowing that it will remain a legacy for many more children in Mphakane. Thanks to the vision bearer of Ponelopele Reading Center Mme Chidi and her team for the good work you do hear. Indeed, in the words of Tata Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
