CDM hold Anti-corruption workshop

Capricorn District Municipality held an Anti-corruption workshop in partnership with Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlement and Traditional Affairs (COGHSTA) and Department of Cooperative Governance. The workshop took place on 10 November 2021 at CDM Council Chamber.
The purpose of the workshop as presented by Special Investigating Unit (SIU), was to provide education and awareness on Anti-corruption initiatives in local government and the multi-stakeholder and sectoral collaboration to fight corruption in all sectors.
The workshop outlined the roles and responsibilities of various government institutions that are tasked with the Anti-corruption mandate. Department of Cooperative Governance presented on the local government Anti-corruption strategy, whereas Hawks, SIU and Office of the Premier presented on their roles in preventing and combating corruption.
The District Chief Risk Officer Jack Ramakgolo indicated that there is a hotline that the public can use to report allegations of fraud and corruptions. The number is 0800 20 50 53.
The Acting Municipal Manager of CDM Thuso Nemugumoni appreciated the initiative and thanked the presenters for insightful information shared. The presenters emphasised on the importance of better collaborations and coordination amongst the various stakeholders.
The workshop was attended by officials from local municipalities working in Risk, Audit, Heads of Supply Chain, Human Resources and the management team of Capricorn District Municipality.
