CDM Celebrated heritage Day at Ga-Dikgale

Moshate GaDikgale became so colourfully because of the hive of activity CDM had on the 15th September as we celebrated the District Heritage Day. We were also there to congratulate Kgoshi Malesela Dikgale on his recent election as the provincial chairperson of the Limpopo House of Traditional Leaders. Deputy Minister of Arts & Culture Obed Bapela was there to celebrate with us as we showcase the diversity and rich cultural tapestry of Capricorn.

The celebration was fitting because traditional leaders are the custodians of our culture and heritage and this commemoration was a reminder and a plea for our people to remain at the forefront in identifying, promoting local heritage sites that may be found in our localities.

We gathered there to celebrate our being as cultural beings and reminded each other of the significance of knowing about who we are and where we come. To recognize culture as a very central part of our heritage as Africans.

The richness of our culture is reflected in our diverse ways of doing things as well as our vernacular languages in Capricorn – Sotho, Tsonga and Venda as well non-vernaculars such as English, Afrikaans and others that are spoken in this part of our district.

Capricorn District is the urban seat of the City of Polokwane, which is the economic hub of Limpopo and that also brings all us into contact with foreign cultures and languages from SADC, the rest of Africa and from across the globe who were there to study, ply their trade and for a better life.
