CDM announces Disaster Risk Reduction School Competition results

Capricorn District Municipality announced the Disaster Risk Reduction School Competition during a ceremony held at Bolivia Lodge on 12 May 2021.

The students were expected to do presentations on how to reduce disasters at their schools and the communities in which they live. Participants were from both primary schools and secondary schools around the district.

The results were as follows: Under best oral both Ngwana Mohube High School and Rapoho Primary School walked away with R30 000 each school.
1st runner up were Rampo High School and Tloukolobe Primary School, and they won R20 000 each school
2nd runner up were Phala High School and Rapoho Primary School, and each walked away with R12 000 each school.
3rd runner up each school walked away with R8000. The schools are Khaiso High School and Sephala Primary School.
Best essay won R20 000 each school and that went to Ngwana Mohube High School and Komana Primary school.

All participants who did not make it to the top category received an amount of R2500 each.

Parterners and sponsors included Sanlam, Nedbank, South African National Space Agency, South African Weather Service, Cogta National Disaster Management Centre, and.Department of Education.
