CDM hold public participation on Draft Annual Report

IN a move set to give members of the public an opportunity to examine the 2019/20 annual performance report and make inputs to its content, Capricorn District Municipality successfully brought together communities for a public purticipation in Polokwane on Monday, 10 May 2021 at Bolivia Lodge.

The hearing came after the Council adopted the Report during a Council meeting that was held recently. It was since open for the public to make representations, comments or inputs with an aim of promoting accountability to the communities.

The Municipality is required by Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) 56 of 2003 to prepare an annual report of each financial year for the purpose of providing an accurate and honest record of activities, performance in service delivery and budget implementation. It is a backward-looking document that reflects on all aspects of performance in terms of how the IDP and budget were implemented. It includes financial statements and AG’s clean audit opinion for the financial year 2019/20.

The hearing was led by the CDM’s Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) and was its last public participation session ahead of the end of the 2016-21 council term.

The Report was presented by MMC Cllr Selamolela on behalf of the Executive Mayor. Kgoshigadi Mothapo congratulated the Municipality for the achievements reported and pledged the support of traditional leaders. “I also commend you for the capacity-building programmes you give to us”, she said.

The Report is accessible on CDM website www.cdm.org.za and members of the public have until 14 May 2021 to submit their inputs to email letsoalot@cdm.org.za
