CDM AND STAKEHOLDERS HOST DISTRICT MEN’S DIALOGUE ON HIV/AIDS AND GBVF.

Capricorn District Municipality (CDM), in collaboration with key stakeholders, hosted a District Men’s Dialogue focused on HIV/AIDS, Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF), and mental health. The event took place at the Department of Correctional Services Hall in Polokwane.
Recognising June as Men’s Mental Health Month, CDM provided this important platform for men across the district to openly engage on pressing issues affecting them, including mental wellness, the ongoing fight against HIV/AIDS, and the critical role men play in addressing GBVF.

Key discussion areas included:

  • The 1.1 Million Campaign
  • Mental health awareness and emotional well-being
  • Understanding men as both potential perpetrators and change agents
  • Conflict resolution
  • Social reintegration for former inmates and marginalized men
  • The role of men in championing social change
A solemn candlelight ceremony was also held in remembrance of those who have lost their lives to HIV/AIDS, fostering reflection and unity.
The dialogue brought together representatives from various sectors including the Department of Health, Department of Social Development, Department of Correctional Services, local municipalities, the District Men’s Forum, and several community-based organizations.
This initiative underscores the commitment of CDM and its partners to drive inclusive, community-led solutions to societal challenges, particularly those impacting men and boys.
