She used the opportunity to appeal for continued support from the Speaker’s office, emphasising the need for both financial resources and adequate staffing to strengthen the independence and functionality of MPAC structures across the district.
MPAC serves as an oversight body of the Council, established in accordance with Section 79A of the Municipal Structures Amendment Act and the Municipal Finance Management Act.
Held annually, the Strategic Planning Session reflect on the committee’s achievements and shortcomings, evaluating the performance of MPACs at both district and local municipality levels for the 2024/25 financial year, and sharing best practices for enforcing compliance.
The purpose of the session is to identify areas in which assistance is needed; align the MPAC activities with the MFMA Calendars and Section 79A(3) (a), (b), (c), (d) and (e); and have a clear programme on how to implement the approved MPAC Annual Work Programmes.
Present at the session are MPACs from all local municipalities namely Blouberg Local Municipality Molemole Local Municipality Polokwane Municipality Lepelle Nkumpi Local Municipality
