CDM held a successful District Lekgotla Session. The session was marked with insightful presentations, robust deliberations and thought-provoking engagements, which were a reflection of a maturing democracy.βThis was not an ordinary engagement. This was a strategic political platform and we must commend all participants for treating it with the seriousness and maturity it deserves,β said Council Chief Whip Cllr Lesiba Pathfinder Matsemela, closing the session.
βWe must acknowledge the hardΒ truths of misalignment and missed opportunities, but more importantly, we reaffirmed our collective commitment to the District Development Model (DDM) as the guiding compass that enables one plan, one budget, and one execution pathway,β emphasized Chief Whip.
βWe need to come out of this Lekgotla with clear resolution that in this district, no municipality should be seen taking money back to the National Treasury,β said Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo, giving direction during discussions.
βThis Lekgotla, should not just be an event. It is a moment of renewal. It is a commitment to do better. It is a declaration that the Capricorn District will not be left behind. Let us leave here today with a shared understanding, a unified plan, and a firm resolve to make the DDM work, not in theory, but in practice,β said Dr Namane Masemola, Deputy Minister for COGTA and Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) District Development Model (DDM) Champion.
βLet us make Capricorn a living laboratory of cooperative governance, service excellence, and developmental impact.
Let us act, not for applause, but for the dignity and wellbeing of our people. Together, let us build a capable, integrated, and people-centred developmental state β starting right here, in the Capricorn District,β added Masemola.
The session was attended by leaders of all political parties serving in the CDM Council and representatives from local municipalities and other sector departments.
