On 26 August 2026, the Executive Mayor of Capricorn District Municipality, Cllr Mamedupi Teffo, visited bereaved families in Diana and Jupiter villages in the Mashashane area, under Polokwane Local Municipality, following the tragic road accident that claimed the lives of learners.
The visit was aimed at conveying the Municipality’s heartfelt condolences, offering words of comfort and assuring the affected families that they were not alone during this difficult period of grief and mourning.
Accompanied by Ward Councillors and Councillors from Polokwane Local Municipality, Cllr Teffo also visited the affected school, where she engaged with the principal, educators and members of the school community who continued to deal with the emotional impact of the tragedy.
“This is a painful moment for the families, the schools and the entire community. As Capricorn District Municipality, we felt it was important to come personally and stand with the families who have lost their children. No words can take away their pain, but our presence is meant to show that the district shares in their grief and stands with them during this difficult time,” said Cllr Teffo.
The Executive Mayor also conveyed her wishes for strength, comfort and healing to the bereaved families and school community, while wishing those who survived the accident a speedy recovery.
Capricorn District Municipality extended its deepest condolences to all the bereaved families and affected communities of Diana, Jupiter and the broader Mashashane area.
