LIMPOPO PRAISED FOR COLLECTIVE FIGHT AGAINST FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE

Minister of Agriculture John Steenhuisen has praised Limpopo for the collective and cooperative efforts of all stakeholders in containing Foot and Mouth Disease during the vaccination drive at ZZ2 Kareebosch Farm.
The Minister commended the collaboration between government, business, farming associations, and both private and public veterinarians in tackling the disease.
The programme, led with Limpopo MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development Nakedi Kekana, was also attended by Capricorn District Municipality MMC for Strategic Executive Management Services, Cllr Solly Mahlatji.
Limpopo has already vaccinated 60% of its livestock, making significant progress towards the national target of vaccinating 80% of livestock by December 2026 to strengthen disease control, protect farmers’ livelihoods, and safeguard food security. The vaccination drive took place on 16 March 2026.
