EM donate sanitisers and thermometers to Schools in Ward 04

The Executive Mayor Cllr John Mpe donated hand sanitizers, temperature and mask to ten schools in Ward 04 of Polokwane Municipality at Mamatsha Village in Ga-Molepo area. The handing over took place on 01 June 2020 at Mamatsha Community Hall. “The donation is a gift to augment what will be donated by the department of Education. The issue of schools for our learners should not be only left in the hands of the department of education. It is the responsibility of the whole community hence, when we were approached by the ward councillor Charles Molepo, we have stood up to make a contribution”, said the Executive Mayor.

“There is a direct relationship between opening of the economy and education at schools. As parents go back to work, learners should go back to school as we cannot leave our children alone at home. As children go back to school, we need to show our support and say how do we lend a helping hand”, emphasized the Executive Mayor.

“We are donating a 25 L of sanitasers and two medical infrared thermometers to each school in the ward. The principals also received face shields and masks”, .

The district executive director thanked the Executive Mayor for the gifts. She added, “we are a district on the rise as we are located in the capital of the province. We have a leader that goes an extra mile and shows passion for all programs. We believe, with you as our leader and leading not only by words but also with action, we can make this district to shine. Your support has been tremendous. We thank you for your dedication. We know we are not alone in this. To have you by our side as we reopen the schools, is really a blessing. We all have to make sure the future of our children is safe. Thank you so much for your contribution”.

Speaking during the handing over, Mr Phuti Shilabje, principal of Manoshi Secondary School, said they appreciated the gesture by the Executive Mayor and believe it will go a long way to assist their schools. “We wish it could be extended to other schools. We wish God would bless our leaders even more so that they can help more communities”, said Manoshi.

The schools that benefitted were both primary and secondary schools namely Magatolle, Sehlale, Manoshi, Mankgaile, Mokwatedi, Maweshi, Subiaco, St. Bedes, Rampheri and Mmapadi.
