ROBUST DISCUSSIONS AT THE MAYORAL STRATEGIC PLANNING

Robust discussions were the order of the day as the delegates engaged in the presentations from various departments at the Mayoral Strategic Planning Session led by Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo. The two-day session commenced on 07 March 2024 at Landmark Loadge in Polokwane.
In her opening remarks, the Executive Mayor said, “The DDM identifies district municipalities as the implementing cords and the nerve-centers of planning across spheres of government, while Municipal Systems Act identifies integrated planning as a tool that drives development.”
“It is within this context that we should continue to strive for the spirit of cooperative governance with state-owned entities, sector departments and other organs of State that have programmes in our locality,” highlighted the Executive Mayor.
“This is because we cannot attack poverty and succeed if we don’t influence how the picture of development should look like for our District. And that can only happen if all role players in this session and on this programme share their state of affairs so our plans can speak to each other and to the challenges that hold us back,” emphasized the Executive Mayor.
The presentations were received from Office of the Premier on Limpopo Twinning Agreements and how the District can leverage on their existence and Limpopo Department of Corporate Governance, Human Settlement and Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA) on Municipal Infrastructure Grants CDM current registered projects and challenges on counter funding.
The session was attended by Members of the Mayoral Committee and Management team led by Municipal Manager Ramakuntwane Selepe, Office of the Premier and Limpopo Department of Corporate Governance, Human Settlement and Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA).
