RESPONSE TO SOCIAL MEDIA ALLEGATIONS – WATER SUPPLY IN MOHODI SEKAKENI (WARD 11)

Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) acknowledges recent social media posts regarding water supply challenges in Mohodi Sekakene, under Molemole Local Municipality.
In response to Mr. Selaelo Nkube’s post, we wish to provide the following clarity:
1. Water Supply Infrastructure:
Mohodi Sekakene’s water supply relies on two boreholes, H11-1779 and H11-2438.
2. Boreholes Status:
Borehole H11-1779: Experienced fallen columns, disrupting its operation. Our Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team rectified the issue on August 4-5, 2025. We’re awaiting material delivery to equip the borehole, with completion expected by August 25, 2025.
Borehole H11-2438: Non-operational due to a stolen and vandalized transformer. CDM applied for replacement in October 2024, and Eskom’s contractor is currently installing a new transformer.
3. Interim Measures: While restoring both boreholes, CDM provides weekly water tankering to ensure residents’ access to water.
CDM remains committed to fully restoring the water supply system and urges residents to protect municipal infrastructure from vandalism and theft.
