On behalf of the Capricorn District Municipality, I take this opportunity to wish everyone happy festive season. Indeed the year 2016 has been a very eventful, busy and fulfilling year following the swearing-in of a new council, the inauguration, continued delivery and we bid it farewell with a sense of pride knowing that more of our communities will celebrate the festive season in the comfort of homes that are connected to water, electricity as well as decent sanitation. We attribute all our achievements to the everpresent support we received from our communities and all stakeholders throughout the year.
As festive season is a period of celebration, let us remember that it is also the time of year when the burden of poverty feels unfairly the heaviest on those who have less. In the spirit of Christmas – the spirit of giving, let us share and give to the needy and make their festive merrier. As we celebrate, let us please resist the abuse of alcohol and reduce incidents of crime, violence and any act of inhumanity in our communities, especially against women, children and the elderly. Kindly use water and electricity wisely and keep disasters, in particular, those related to water and fires, out of your holiday celebrations.
