In delivering the Municipality’s message of support, she encouraged the police to treat victims of GBV and other crimes with sensitivity and dignity – assuring them that they will get justice. “We know no case will be too big or too small for you, we have full confidence in you”, she said, also urging residents to partner with SAPS in fighting crime, “let us ensure that no victim suffers alone while we know the whereabouts of the perpetrator. Let us also report those who steal and vandalise our water infrastructure”.
Police Minister Mr Senzo Mchunu used the opportunity to send a stern warning to criminals. “The decisions to arrest criminals will be taken here and we will arrest them. We will find you, the cellphone you used, the weapon you used, the vehicle you used – with or without a number plate, whether you acted alone or in a group, we will arrest you”.
The entourage took time to tour the Station, before engaging residents to ask questions about the Station, and share crime prevention suggestions and other safety concerns.
