Capricorn District Municipality’s Intergovernmental Relations (IGR) leadership on 08 September 2026 undertook a field visit to the Olifantspoort Refurbished Water Treatment Plant at Ga-Mphahlele, as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation and coordination around water service delivery in the district.
The delegation was led by MMC for Infrastructure Services, Cllr Monica Mohale, representing Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo, and included representatives from the four local municipalities—Blouberg, Lepelle-Nkumpi, Molemole and Polokwane—alongside Lepelle Northern Water Deputy Chairperson of the Board, Mr Monakedi, and the Department of Water and Sanitation.
The visit provided an opportunity for political and administrative leadership to receive a briefing on the refurbishment of the plant, assess its operational status and gain insight into its contribution towards strengthening bulk water supply to communities.
Lepelle Northern Water management took the delegation through the treatment plant, showcasing the infrastructure and treatment processes while highlighting areas requiring continued intervention and coordinated support.
The visit further strengthened collaboration among government institutions and stakeholders in addressing water supply challenges, in line with the District Development Model (DDM) and its focus on integrated planning and coordinated service delivery.
Capricorn District Municipality remains committed to strengthening partnerships and investing in sustainable water infrastructure to improve the lives of communities across the district.
