EXECUTIVE MAYOR AT SALGA PEC LEKGOTLA

Executive Mayor, Cllr Mamedupi Teffo, attended SALGA PEC Lekgotla to Champion Service Delivery and Local Government Reform held on 20 June 2025 at The Ranch.
The Executive Mayor of Capricorn District Municipality, Cllr Mamedupi Teffo, is among the dignitaries attending the ongoing South African Local Government Association (SALGA) Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) Lekgotla.
This important gathering brings together leaders from across Limpopo to deliberate on critical matters affecting municipalities, including water provision, electricity and energy supply, the state of municipal governance, and the national review of the White Paper on Local Government.
Delivering the opening address, Cllr Teffo called on attendees to treat the Lekgotla as more than just a meeting, but rather as a platform to reaffirm their collective commitment to developmental local government. She emphasized the need to build institutional capacity, strengthen democratic accountability, and accelerate the delivery of basic services with urgency, transparency, and integrity.
“The future of our communities rests on the choices we make in forums like these. We must emerge from this Lekgotla with renewed purpose to serve our people better,” she said.
The Lekgotla forms part of broader efforts to transform local government in line with the principles of cooperative governance and citizen-centered development.
