CAPRICORN DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY CONDUCTS DISASTER RISK MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP AT MALEBOGO IN BLOUBERG MUNICIPALITY.

“This is to educate people about issues of disaster, how to respond when there’s a disaster and how to mitigate them,” said Member of Mayoral Committee for Community Services Cllr. Elizabeth Rahlana, representing the municipality’s Executive Mayor Cllr. Mamedupi Teffo leading the team on 30 June 2025.
The municipality is taking proactive steps to build resilience through Community-Based Risk Reduction (CBRR) initiatives. Local leaders, community members, and stakeholders have joined hands to discuss risks such as drought, floods, and veld fires that threaten livelihoods and safety in the area.
Various sections of the municipality made presentations as per their specialities, such as disaster management, fire services, municipal health, and environmental health. Also, the event was attended by representatives of various sector departments such as Limpopo Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (LEDET), South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), Department of Social Development, Department of Agriculture. The sector departments representatives also made presentations on the kind of work they do and how they assist communities during disaster.
