On 17 August 2026, Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo engaged members of the South African Municipal Workers’ Union (SAMWU) at Capricorn District Municipality, calling for continued cooperation, professionalism and teamwork as the current Council term draws to a close.
Cllr Teffo thanked employees for their dedication and contribution to the Municipality’s achievements, including the attainment of a clean audit, which she described as a collective achievement requiring accountability, compliance and responsible management of municipal resources.
She encouraged employees to maintain high performance, uphold occupational health and safety, observe financial and cost-containment measures, and embrace the Municipality’s ongoing digital transformation through continuous skills development.
The Executive Mayor also emphasised the importance of respectful workplace relations, effective grievance management and a workplace that supports and empowers women, while strongly condemning Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF).
As the Municipality prepares for a new Council term, Cllr Teffo urged employees, management and organised labour to remain united in ensuring institutional stability and uninterrupted service delivery.
“When one department succeeds, Capricorn District Municipality succeeds. Let us continue working together as one team and ensure that the incoming Council finds a stable, professional and high-performing institution.”
