Capricorn District Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr Mamedupi Teffo, expressed her sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed to the successful Provincial Heritage Day Celebration held on 24 September 2026 at Sham Rock Stadium in Seleteng, Ga-Mphahlele.
In delivering her Vote of Thanks, Mayor Teffo acknowledged Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba for choosing Capricorn District Municipality to host the provincial celebration. She also expressed appreciation to provincial and local government structures, traditional leaders, communities, cultural practitioners, performers, organisers and all stakeholders whose contribution helped make the celebration a success.
The celebration provided an opportunity for communities from across the province to showcase and celebrate Limpopo’s rich cultural heritage. Mayor Teffo emphasised that heritage is a living expression of communities and an important part of their identity.
“Heritage lives in our languages, traditions, music, dance, food, clothing, stories and values passed from one generation to another.”
The Executive Mayor called on communities to preserve and celebrate their heritage beyond Heritage Month, emphasising the importance of ensuring that cultural traditions continue to unite generations, strengthen social cohesion and enrich the future of Limpopo.
She further expressed appreciation to everyone who participated in and supported the provincial celebration, reaffirming Capricorn District Municipality’s commitment to preserving and promoting the province’s diverse cultural heritage.
Mayor Teffo concluded her Vote of Thanks by wishing everyone a Happy Heritage Day, saying:
“Re a leboga. Ha khensa. Siyabonga. Ro livhuwa. Thank you very much.”
The celebration reaffirmed the importance of safeguarding Limpopo’s rich cultural heritage and ensuring that its traditions, stories and values continue to be passed on to future generations.
