The first thing first campaign kick-starts

Capricorn District Municipality together with the Limpopo Department of Health, Capricorn College for TVET and other institutions are this week hosting the First things First campaign in all the Capricorn TVET campuses around the district.

The campaign kick-started on 11 March 2019 at Ramokgopha Campus and will run until 14 March 2019 taking place at Polokwane, Seshego and Senwabarwana respectively.

The campaign is aimed at encouraging the youth to put their education first before other things that can have a negative impact in their future. According to Peer Educators one challenge that the students are faced with is teenage pregnancy and those who are sexually active not using protection in the form of condoms.

Speaking on behalf of CDM Executive Mayor, Cllr. John Mpe, Mayor of Molemole Municipality Cllr. Edward Paya, called on students to be empowered to put first things first, which is their education, their qualification, their good health and their future. “You need to rise above HIV, teenage pregnancy and stigma” emphasised Paya.
