As champions, learners from Marobathota High School each received Raleigh bicycles, tablets, scientific calculators, USB drives, and goodie bags, while the school also walked away with two recycling bins and a selection of plants to promote environmental awareness.
Seiphi Secondary School and Ngwanamohube Secondary School claimed second and third place respectively, earning bicycles, power banks, scientific calculators, and USB drives for their outstanding efforts. In addition, six participating schools — Luthuli, Khaiso, and Matsimela among them — were each awarded scientific calculators and plants as tokens of appreciation for their participation.
Member of the Mayoral Committee for Development Planning and Environment Management Services, Cllr Matome Masoga, congratulated all participating schools and commended their commitment to environmental protection. “This competition targets schools because they represent the future,” said Cllr Masoga.
“The goal is to inspire behavioural change and encourage greater care for the environment within our communities. The learners’ in-depth research and presentations demonstrated a strong understanding of climate challenges and outlined innovative solutions to address them,” added Masoga.
The competition showcased the district’s commitment to environmental education, innovation, and youth empowerment in the fight against climate change. The panel of judges were made up of officials from LEDET, Limpopo Department of Education. The competition was held on 16 October 2025.
