CDM successfully hosted the 2025 District Youth Dialogue at Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Municipality, Lebowakgomo where young people participated in discussions on impactful topics on 12 June 2025. The programme under Office of the Speaker Cllr Kholofelo Lehong, was led by the Speaker and the Member of the Mayoral Committee responsible for SEMS Cllr Solly Mahlatji represented the Executive Mayor.“The district plays a coordinating role through the youth desk and local economic development, ensuring that young people in the district have access to opportunities presented by various stakeholders. We will multiply our efforts”, said MMC for SEMS Cllr Solly Mahlatji.
Young people robustly engaged in topics of discussion, providing possible solutions to the challenges faced by young people. The discussion topics were:
• (i) The role of youth in combating domestic violence and femicide within the District.
• (ii) Impact of Expanded Public Works Program (EPWP) in addressing youth unemployment in the
District.
(iii) Challenges facing youth in furthering post-matric studies.
The dialogue delegation was in line with political representation of political parties in CDM Council. They were awarded with certificates of participation.
