Member of the Mayoral Committee responsible for Community Services Cllr Elizabeth Rahlana led the handing over of housing materials delivered by the National Department of Human Settlements (NDHS), together with the National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC), at Stanplaas Village in Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Municipality.“We are happy and very thankful to be given these materials that will assist us in preventing rain from causing more damage to our homes,” said excited villagers Frans Matoromela and Nthabeleng Chuene, collecting their building materials. Adding that “the material will go a long way in assisting us.”
The materials will be used to rebuild their structures which were destroyed during weather storm disasters that took place last year.
“This intervention follows an assessment that was previously conducted by the district and the department on the houses affected by disaster across the Capricorn District Municipality. We will be going to Blouberg for the same intervention programme on Wednesday,” said Cllr Rahlana. The handover took place on 19 May 2025.
