EXECUTIVE MAYOR MONITORED VANDALISED MAKWENG WATER SUPPLY PROJECT

On 15 July 2026, the Executive Mayor of Capricorn District Municipality, Cllr Mamedupi Teffo, led a Mayoral Outreach Project Monitoring visit to the vandalised Makweng Water Supply Project in the Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Municipality.

The programme commenced with a courtesy visit to Moshate wa Kekana, where the Executive Mayor met with the Traditional Council to convey her greetings and acknowledge the vital role of traditional leadership in promoting community development and protecting public infrastructure.

The visit formed part of the Municipality’s ongoing commitment to strengthening collaboration with communities and traditional leaders on issues affecting service delivery, particularly the protection of critical water infrastructure from vandalism.

Thereafter, the Executive Mayor visited the Makweng Water Supply Project to assess the extent of the damage caused by vandalism, receive a technical briefing from municipal officials, engage with stakeholders, and discuss interventions aimed at restoring the infrastructure to ensure a reliable water supply for the affected communities.

Capricorn District Municipality continues to urge residents to safeguard public infrastructure. Acts of vandalism not only damage valuable public assets but also disrupt service delivery and delay access to essential services for the communities that depend on them.
