OHS conduct medical surveillance

Capricorn District Municipality’s Occupational Health and Safety unit has conducted medical surveillance in the form of administering two different vaccines (Tetanus and Hepatitis), to employees at Blouberg and Lepelle-Nkumpi Satellite offices. The vaccines were administered to the officials on 16 and 18 November 2021 respectively.
The Tetanus vaccine comes in one dose, while Hepatitis B comes in three doses, the first Hepatitis B dose have already been administered, second dose is the one being administered currently, and the third dose will be done soon.
These were employees working at sewerage treatment plants and fire departments, who are often exposed to harzadous biological contaminants at their work places. The vaccines will assist in preventing diseases they can be exposed to in their line of duty.
Motlanalo Kgatla a Process Controller at Senwabarwana Sewer Plant said that they thank the municipality for this vaccination exercise, because it will help in making sure that they are safe at their working stations. Kgatla started working at the plant in 2012.
