MPAC VISITS SANITATION PROJECT AT MANKGODI

“We move the length and breath of the district to ensure that there is accountability on budgets allocated for projects, and we are playing an oversight role effectively on projects implemented by the municipality,” said Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) Chairperon Cllr Lisbeth Mothata.
Today, the MPAC was at Mankgodi Village in Blouberg Local Municipality to monitor the Mankgodi and Terbrugge Sanitation project.
The project is part of the 515 VIP units constructed at a cost of R6, 8 million. The units at Mankgodi and Terbrugge are 141 and 134 respectively and Mosehleng (240).
The project commenced on 01 April 2021 and surpassed the planned duration of eight months due to various challenges which are currently attended before final handover. It’s anticipated the outstanding work would be completed by end of the week, 09 December 2022.
“We are here to ensure community gets services and oversee the project as mandated. The contract must make sure any outstanding work is completed within the indicated time frame,” concluded Mothata. The visit took place on 05 December 2022 and MPAC was joined by the ward councillor, ward committees, moshate, officials, contractor and consultant.
