The Executive Mayor, Cllr Mamedupi Teffo received a brief on the state of readiness for installation of pre-paid water smart metering. She was joined by MMCs and councilors from Blouberg Local Municipality, Molemole and Lepelle Nkumpi Local Municipality.The smart meter consultative process with communities was completed in the area of Lebowakgomo, Senwabarwana, Dendron, Alldays and Morebeng between March and June 2022. The district municipality is now ready to roll out the process of installing the smart meters.
This is in accordance with the Municipal Structures Act, (Act 32 of 2000 – Section 84), Capricorn District Municipality has the functions and powers, amongst others, to provide potable water supply systems and domestic wastewater and sewage disposal systems, where possible, to all the communities falling under the area of their jurisdiction and also collect revenue. The briefing meeting was held on 06 December 2022 at CDM Council Chamber.
