MPAC VISIT INVERAAN VILLAGE WATER SUPPLY PROJECT

The municipality’s Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC), continued with its oversight work to make sure public funds were spent responsibly, and those working on municipal projects aimed at delivering services to the community, were held accountable.
The committee was at Inveraan on 11 October 2023, in Blouberg Local Municipality to assess progress on yet another water project. The Inveraan Village Water Supply (Contract B) project is valued at just over R 46m. Expenditure to date is just above R23m. Construction work commenced on 02 February 2023, and construction work is expected to be
Completed by 16 May 2024.
Construction work involves:
. Bulk Water supply distribution networks.
. Construction of 66 km Water supply distribution network with valves and all ancillary works as follows:
• Main feeder line – uPVC pressure pipe 160mm diameter class 9 (6.3 km).
• Network Branches – uPVC pressure pipe 75mm diameter class 9 (59 km).
• Yard connections – HDPE PN 20, 25mm diameter (15,964 m).
• Metered House Connections 1961.
The work done on the project to date is;
Water supply distribution networks:
• Main feeder line – uPVC pressure pipe 160mm diameter class 9 (5.6 km).
• Network branches – uPVC pressure pipe 75mm diameter class 9 (57 km).
• Yard connections – HDPE PN 20, 25mm diameter (14,954 m).
• Metered house connections 1840.
Overall Progress on the project is 89%
Work outstanding is;
• Main feeder line – uPVC pressure pipe 160mm diameter class 9 (0.7 km).
• Network branches – uPVC pressure pipe 75mm diameter class 9 (3 km).
• Yard connections – HDPE PN 20, 25mm diameter (1010 m).
• Metered house connections 121.
