MAKOTSE OUTFALL SEWER BULK PIPELINES

The Executive Mayor of Capricorn District Municipality, Cllr Mamedupi Teffo visited Ledwaba Traditional Council in Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Municipality to present plans for upgrading of Lebowakgomo Waste Water Treatment Works (WWTW) that is affecting the Makotse sewer spillage.
The Executive Mayor was accompanied by the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Development Planning and Environmental Management, Cllr Matome Masoga, and the infrastructure department management team. CDM has recognized the need to expand the capacity of the WWTW and upgrade the outfall sewer pipelines to meet the growing demands of the area that is falling under Ledwaba Traditional Authority.
The district municipality plan to expand the WWTW from 3.0 to 15 Ml/Day in phases and construction of outfall sewer pipelines for the Lebowakgomo area. The Executive Mayor met with the Ledwaba Council, which is led by Kgosi Ledwaba. The traditional authority emphasized the strengthening of intergovernmental relationships with that of traditional authorities as we implement government projects.
To achieve the requirements to access Regional Bulk Infrastructure Grant (RBIG) funding, the Department of Water and Sanitation has requested the municipality to submit the process plan, which indicates various milestones that lead to the completion of the process.
