Capricorn District Municipality joined the MEC Jerry Maseko of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture Limpopo for Launch of Limpopo Heritage Month at Bakone Malapa Open-Air Museum outside Polokwane. CDM was led by Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) Cllr Hilda Makhura (Sport, Arts and Culture) on behalf of the Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo.
“Heritage Month is always cause for celebration as it is the month we appreciate the rich, diverse and common cultural heritage that makes us Proudly Limpopians,” said MEC Maseko.
“We are gathered here today to unveil the month-long heritage activities that bring focus to the rich, diverse cultural traditions and heritage in the province and the immense contribution they have on the social, economic, health, and scientific well-being of communities. As former President Nelson Mandela once said, “The heritage of a great nation is not just its wealth or its power, but its people, their values, and their culture.” – Whilst President Ramaphosa once said “In our heritage lies our strength” The strength to advance the
social, economic and health opportunities created through heritage customs” alluded Maseko.
Maseko outlined the month long heritage celebration programme with activities to be held across all districts in the province. The launch took place on 11 September 2024.
