The Indaba is led by the Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe. The purpose of the Indaba is to facilitate discussions on various strategies that can be used to combat theft that affects our farmers and our community at large. “We need to hear your voices and take a firm stand as a community together,” said Hadebe.
She added, “We are committed to ensuring the safety of our farmers. Let’s collaborate and work together. We will not lose this battle; our joint efforts will lead to success. It’s time to focus on solutions rather than assigning blame.”
Hadebe also indicated that they have noticed stock theft is also contributing to the escalation of mob justice in communities. The Indaba is attended by police, farmers associations, community leaders, and more.
