“A fire can start in the blink of an eye, destroying everything in its path and bringing immense suffering to families. Fire is dangerous.”
This stark warning came from Senior Fire Fighter Sehlapelo of the Blouberg Fire Station during the launch of the International Fire Fighters Day (IFFD) build-up campaigns in Cooperspark on 08 April 2025.
The Capricorn District Municipality kicked off its awareness drive in the Blouberg Local Municipality, focusing on fire dangers, prevention, and safety measures. Leading the initiative was Member of the Mayoral Committee for Community Services, Cllr Elizabeth Rahlana.
The campaign brought together key stakeholders, including **Eskom, Working on Fire, Disaster Management, Municipal Health, SAPS, and the Department of Fisheries, Forestry, and Environment, all contributing vital insights on fire safety.
These awareness efforts will continue across all local municipalities in April, building up to the official IFFD commemoration in May 2025.
