IDDR build-up campaign held at Mamaolo

“The drive to create awareness about disaster management never stops because disaster is everybody’s business”, this were utterances from Cllr Lehong during the build-up campaign for the 2021 Commemoration of International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction on 07 October 2021.
The campaign categorized by presentations from Municipal Health service, Fire services and disaster management, took place at Mamaolo Community Hall under Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Municipality.
The Municipal Health Service outlined their role towards community safety, monitoring and inspection of facilities, food and water sampling, Covid-19 Awareness and compliance. The fire safety tips and actions to be taken in case of fire were highlighted in a presentation from Sefako Makgato Fire Station. They edged community members to use the Municipal toll free number responsibly.
Disaster Management appealed to the community to work towards reducing the risk of disaster in their lives. In case of disaster the people can utilize the toll free number 0800666777, as it goes directly to the fire stations unlike other numbers.
