Capricorn District Municipality led by Acting Executive Mayor, MMC for Infrastructure Cllr Maite Mohale and Santam led by Ms Tersia Mdunge – Manager CSI and Dr Moses Kangale – Manager Stakeholder Programmes demonstrated how working together in the spirit of District Development Model and Public Private Partnership can be of beneficial to the community.On 13 April 2023, Santam through its partnership with CDM and the Department of Education were showcasing the disaster risk management work done at Phatlaphadima LSEN School in Ga-Mashashane and donated fire and rescue equipment to assist at the various fire stations in the district. In the district alone Santam has spent just over R3.2 million towards disaster risk reduction and mitigation of special schools infrastructure which started with assessment, developing evacuation plans, installation of fire detectors, alarms amongst others and more.
The CDM and Polokwane Municipality delegation started the day with a briefing session with Mashashane Traditional Authority Council led by Kgosi Mashashane before moving to Phatlaphadima ending the day at Polokwane Fire Station with fire fighting rescue demonstrations. The fire fighting equipment donated included Hazardous Material PPE, Hazmat intervention equipment, Search and rescue tools, Rope rescue equipment and Water rescue equipment.
