Over twenty students from disadvantaged communities across Capricorn District graduated with a National Certificate in Water and Waste Water and Treatment Process Operations NQF Level 2. The graduates studied at Capricorn TVET College for a period of eighteen months. The graduation ceremony took place on 25 February 2022 in Polokwane.
The learnership was done by Capricorn District Municipality in partnership with the National Youth Development Agency, Capricorn TVET College, Collins Chabane Foundation, Polokwane Municipality and Regen Technical Institute. The learnership was aimed at capacitating young people with skills as part of addressing the triple challenges communities are facing such as unemployment, inequality and poverty.
“We commend the partners involved in making the dream of these young people come true. The district municipality is always ready and open to partnerships, that are responding to a call to build the capacity of the youth and embrace the economic transformation agenda of young people,” said Cllr. Solly Mahlatji, Member of Mayoral Committee for Strategic Executive Management Services at CDM.
