Executive Mayor on back to school programme

Executive Mayor Cllr Gilbert Kganyago and mayors of local municipalities will this week visit and congratulate schools that did well in 2014 matric results. The visits are part of the 2015 back to school programme to reach out to schools that did well in matric results.

Kganyago will on Wednesday 15 January join the Department of Education and Premier at Monyong High School, at Mmotong and Hoerskool Pietersburg (PHS) in Polokwane for a visit while member of the mayoral committee Cllr Mahlo will head to Dendron Secondary School in Mogwadi for the same fundamental purpose.

These visits are a sequel to the 2014 school outreach programme in which intervention was made in order empower schools in rural areas that are under-resourced and under-privileged. The intervention – in a form of motivation, excellence awards and special winter school enrichment classes – made impact as the schools showed improvement in 2014 matric results.

All visits will start at 07h30 at Monyong and 10h00 at PHS.
