Executive Mayor led DCC in a walkabout at the Covid-19 District Food Bank

The Executive Mayor of Capricorn District Municipality Cllr John Mpe led all members of District Command Council in a walkabout at the Covid-19 District Food Bank that was launched last week by Premier Stan Mathabatha. The walkabout took place on 28 April 2020 immediately after the DCC meeting held at CDM Council Chamber.

More than 5000 food parcels have already been distributed to the needy people in the district. In Molemole they received over 1200 parcels, Blouberg over 1800, Polokwane about 3060 and Lepelle Nkumpi more than 2000.

The walkabout also gave a glimpse of the size of food parcels that are distributed to the indigent households to alleviate the effects of poverty during this period.

During the walkabout, the Executive Mayor reiterated that councillors were no longer doing the distribute food parcels. “ The distribution is now the responsibility of officials and councillor’s role is to identify the needy families”, said the Executive Mayor.
