Executive Mayor congratulates new SALGA Chairperson Cllr John MpeMPE

Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo congratulates Polokwane Executive Mayor Cllr John Mpe on his election as the Provincial Chairperson of SALGA.
Mpe is no stranger to SALGA Provincial Executive after serving as its second deputy Chairperson in the last term (2016-2021); and given his solid track record in local government and having led many structures thus far, we have no doubt that he’s the right person to lead SALGA PEC.
Mpe’s election comes at the right time – when Municipalities need his ethical-and-visionary-kind of leadership and passion for delivery and good governance to overcome challenges that have been holding Municipalities back for over two decades, particularly huge delivery backlogs and poor financial management. His election also comes at a time when Districts are called upon to become hubs that facilitate intergovernmental joint planning, resolve misalignment and promote shared services through the District Development Model.
We are therefore confident that under his leadership, the interests of Municipalities in Limpopo will be safeguarded and the distance between Limpopo municipalities and the national sphere of government will be narrowed for our Municipalities to remain key, capable drivers of development.
As Capricorn District Municipality, we look forward to working with the new SALGA PEC and we wish Cllr John Mpe all the best in his new responsibility.
Cllr Mamedupi Teffo
Executive Mayor
