“When we empower a woman, we strengthen a family; when we protect a child, we protect our future; and when we support ECD, we build a stronger nation.”
These powerful words were shared by Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo during the Amplifying Women’s Voices in Early Childhood Development (ECD) Dialogue, held at Jack Botes Hall in Polokwane.
The Executive Mayor joined Minister of Human Settlements, Ms Thembi Nkadimeng, and women working in the ECD sector for the dialogue, held under the theme “Empowering Women, Protecting Children, Building the Future.”
The engagement provided an important platform for women in the ECD sector to share their experiences, challenges and aspirations, while strengthening collaboration towards improving early childhood development and supporting those who care for and educate young children.
Cllr Teffo reaffirmed the Capricorn District Municipality’s commitment to working with government, communities, NGOs, CBOs, civil society and other stakeholders to empower women, protect children and create opportunities for every child to grow, learn and thrive.
Investing in women and ECD is an investment in stronger families, resilient communities and a better future for generations to come.
