COMMUNITY VOICES SHAPED CAPRICORN FUTURE PLANS – 18 March 2026

Stakeholders from across the Capricorn District came together at Jack Botes Hall in Polokwane on 18 March 2026 to deliberate on the draft 2026/2027–2030/2031 Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) budget.

Led by Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo, the IDP Representative Forum brought together traditional leaders (Magoshi), government departments, NGOs, civil society, youth, women, the elderly, and people living with disabilities, strengthening participatory governance and inclusive planning.

Key among the discussions was a call for the municipality to increase funding for social and youth development programmes, reflecting the needs of the community.

The engagement formed part of the municipality’s legislative obligation to encourage public participation and review its development plans annually, ensuring transparency and accountability.
