CDM WRAPS DAY 1 OF THE DISTRICT LEKGOTLA

The Capricorn District Municipality held a two-day District Lekgotla programme at Bolivia Lodge in Polokwane from 02-03 December 2025. The two days focused on discussions on improving service delivery and advancing sustainable development, with commissions’ deliberations providing a deep and honest reflection on municipal performance, ongoing plans, and key interventions.
The two days featured a comprehensive programme including a keynote address by the Deputy Minister of Department of COGTA, Dr. Namane Masemola, presentations by Executive Mayors and Mayors on the 4-Year Service Delivery and IDP Performance Review across all municipalities and MEC for Limpopo Coghsta Official and DDM Champion, Basikopo Makamu, who presented on the State of Municipalities within the Capricorn District.
The session also benefited from the presence of DDM Limpopo Champion and MEC for The Limpopo Provincial Treasury, Kgabo Mahoai, who continues to support coordinated development across the province.
CDM Chief Whip of Council, Cllr Lesiba Matsemela, officially opened the District Lekgotla with a strong call for coordinated and impactful development. “Our district must be a model of coordinated development, not by slogan but by practice. This Lekgotla is about the people of Capricorn — their aspirations, their dignity, and their hopes for a better life,” he said.
He further urged leaders to reflect honestly, plan wisely and execute decisively. “Together, let us build a district that is capable, responsive, and driven by development.” District Lekgotla is a programme spearheaded by Office of the Chief Whip.
